Are You OCD About Exericise?

Are You OCD About Exericise?

Maybe you're on the opposite end of this spectrum, but that's not our focus today. Some people are OCD about exericise and that's a problem.

OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) can be beneficial in some cases and harmful in others. For instance, someone who works in retail or some other repetitive job could use their OCD tendencies to their advantage.

Being OCD about exercise could also be an advantage if you're OCD about the right things like:
  • keeping a regular workout schedule
  • monitoring your eating habits
  • getting enough rest after a workout
  • keeping track of success
  • making goals

For all of the benefits of being OCD about exericise, there are some serious consequences of getting obsessed over your workouts, in fact in can become debilitating.

Obsessing about exericise can take away from the benefits of exericise by making exericise something to get stressed about rather than a method to reduce stress.

Being OCD about exericise can also lead to overtraing one's body because the obsessed person will not think that he's done enough and will continue working out until past exhaustion.

Working out until exhaustion is good in moderation, but very bad on a regular basis.

Being driven to succeed at your weightloss goals or even gain weight and get buff is great, but you should not get OCD about exericise.
